Strangers into Citizens Rally – Restaurants close for 30 mins

A rally organised by London Citizens “Strangers into Citizens” took place today, where people called for citizenship to be offered to long-term migrants in the UK, to allow them to work legally, pay taxes and integrate into society. Restaurants in Chinatown closed for a symbolic 30 minutes in support of the demonstration. London Huayu reporter Queenie went down to investigate:

Strangers into Citizens is a movement organised by London Citizens, calling for a one-off regularisation of long-term irregular migrants in the UK. There are an estimated 750,000 irregular migrants in the UK facing exploitation and uncertainty. They want to work, integrate and be able to contribute to life in the UK as full members of our society.
